Weight Loss Trends in Canada

Have you heard of the Paleo diet, fat burners, Glutathione, anti-oxidants. Of course you have, your not living in a cave.

If you know more then the terms themselves, your probably interested in weight loss. I’m writing to my fellow Canadians here . We have a different mentality then the rest of the world. We are more laid back, trusting, and in the winter we stay indoors. Here are some simple tips to help you stay happy and healthy throughout the year. Most of these are free, some are suggestions that can help you get the boost you need.

  1. Fresh Air – Nothing beats going outside for some fresh air, especially in the winter months. We often go through our days like this: get up, coffee, drive to work, coffee, work, work, work, drive home, grab groceries, eat dinner, watch tv. Where is time for going outside. Even 5 minutes will help reset your mind. Breath in that fresh crisp air (given your not in ontario on a humid august day)
  2. Light Stretching – Yoga, Pilates, Stretching your arms up to the sky, standing up from your desk. Stretch that body out, the limbs, the back, the neck, the brain. You’ll be amazed how good it feels to do this. Periodically throughout your day, especially if you sit at a computer all day, DO THIS!
  3. Computer Setup – The middle of your screen should be at eye level. If your on a laptop… ugh oh…. Its almost definitely not. There are solutions to this, like a stand, amongst many others. You can even stack your monitor (if you have one) on books. Thats what I do. Books=intelligence, so put some of your favourites and maybe that cute girl/guy will spark a conversation with you.
  4. Breathe – DEEP BREATHS!  I love this one. I can’t tell you enough about the benefits stepping back and taking a few deep breaths will do for you. It’s simply an amazing, refreshing, vitalizing thing to do. Try it now. Close your eyes, take a moment to breath deeply, honouring and respecting yourself. Feel better? Of course you do.
